Profile & Proportion

Your profile is about more than one angle.

Fullness beneath the chin can influence the visual relationship between the face, jawline and neck. However, the amount of fat is only one part of that relationship.

Dr. Cynthia evaluates the entire lower-face and neck profile before recommending treatment.

01
Fat

02
Skin
Quality, elasticity and laxity.

Goals
What the patient actually wants to change — and what they do not.

We evaluate your profile.

We do not simply sell liposuction.

What Patients Notice

Sometimes fullness stays — even when the rest of you changes.

  • Fullness underneath the chin
  • A “double chin”
  • Lack of jawline definition
  • Fat that persists despite weight loss, diet or exercise
  • Genetically predisposed fullness beneath the chin
  • A face or neck that appears heavier than the rest of the body
  • Profile concerns
  • Wanting a more defined transition between jawline and neck

For many patients, the goal is not dramatic facial change. It is simply a cleaner, more defined jawline and profile.

Understanding the Procedure

Direct contouring. Thoughtfully planned.

At Pure Radiance, Chin Liposuction is primarily used to contour localized fat in the submental area beneath the chin.

Depending on the patient’s anatomy and treatment plan, contouring may also include areas around the jawline and upper neck. A small cannula is used to directly remove and contour targeted unwanted fat.

The goal is not simply to remove fat.

Treatment planning considers the natural relationship between the face, jawline, neck, skin and anatomy.

Physician Insight

“Chin liposuction allows me to directly remove unwanted fat underneath the chin and contour the area to create better definition between the face, jawline and neck.

When I evaluate you, I'm not only looking at how much fat you have. I'm also looking at your skin, your jawline, your neck and your overall facial structure.

For some patients, removing the fat is enough. For others, we may need to address both the fat and loose skin, which is when I may recommend combining chin liposuction with EndoLift.

The goal isn't to change the way you look. It's to create a more defined and balanced version of your natural profile.”

Treatment Planning

Contour is about relationship.

01

Under the Chin

Primary area of localized fat removal.

02

Jawline

May be incorporated when appropriate for contour and definition.

03

Upper Neck

May be considered as part of the overall treatment plan.

The exact areas treated are determined during your consultation based on your anatomy and desired outcome.

Personalized Evaluation

Five things matter more than the treatment name.

  1. 01

    Fat

How much localized fat is present — and where?

  2. 02

    Skin

What are the skin’s quality and elasticity?

  3. 03

    Anatomy

What is the patient’s natural jaw and neck structure?

  4. 04

    Laxity

How much loose skin or tissue laxity is contributing?

  5. 05

    Goals

What would look natural and meaningful to this individual?

  • Fat
  • Skin
  • Anatomy
  • Degree of Laxity
  • Patient Goals
Individual Candidacy

Is Chin Liposuction right for you?

Potential candidates may have localized fat beneath the chin or around the jawline that may be appropriately addressed through direct fat removal and contouring.

Evaluation Considers
  • Amount & Location of Fat
  • Skin Quality & Elasticity
  • Degree of Skin Laxity
  • Jaw & Neck Anatomy
  • Overall Health & Medical History
  • Realistic Expectations
  • Desired Outcome

Age alone does not determine candidacy.

A younger patient may have excellent skin elasticity but genetically resistant submental fat. Another patient may have unwanted fat and skin laxity. Those patients may require completely different treatment plans.

Important Context

Chin Liposuction is not appropriate for everyone.

Potential considerations may include:

  • Certain medical conditions
  • Active infection or skin issues in the treatment area
  • Bleeding or clotting concerns
  • Medications that may affect the procedure or healing
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Other medical circumstances identified during evaluation
A Clinical Note

Removing fat does not automatically tighten skin.

If significant skin laxity is present, removing underlying fat alone may not produce the desired result. This is one reason Dr. Cynthia may recommend EndoLift in addition to Chin Liposuction for selected patients.

Individual Clinical Evaluation

The website cannot determine whether Chin Liposuction is appropriate for you.

All candidacy decisions are made by Dr. Cynthia following individual evaluation and review of medical history.

What to Expect

Thoughtful contouring from start to finish.

  1. 01

    Evaluation & Marking

Dr. Cynthia evaluates the patient’s profile and marks the areas that will be contoured.

  2. 02

    Preparation & Comfort

The treatment area is prepared and local anesthesia/numbing is used to help keep the patient comfortable.

  3. 03

    Direct Contouring

A small cannula is used to carefully remove and contour targeted unwanted fat.

  4. 04

    Awake Throughout

At Pure Radiance, the procedure does not require general anesthesia. Patients remain conscious during the procedure.

  5. 05

    Completion & Recovery

The clinical team provides individualized recovery and aftercare guidance.

Appointment Expectation

The exact length depends on anatomy and treatment plan. Patients should generally plan approximately one to two hours for the overall appointment, including preparation.

Possible Sensations
  • Pressure
  • Movement
  • Tugging
  • Vibration
  • Mild discomfort

Sensations may occur at certain points during the procedure. Chin Liposuction is not described as pain-free.

Recovery

Healing is part of the result.

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Tenderness or soreness
  • Tightness
  • Temporary numbness
  • Sensitivity
  • Firmness in portions of the treated area

Your final contour will not be visible immediately after the procedure.

Swelling affects the early appearance. As healing progresses and swelling decreases, the jawline and neck contour can become more visible and continue to refine.

Many patients may return to normal day-to-day activities relatively quickly, but social downtime varies.

Exercise and strenuous activity should be resumed according to the clinical team’s individualized instructions.

Supporting Recovery

Compression with purpose.

Patients are instructed to wear a compression garment following Chin Liposuction. Compression is part of the recovery process and may help support the treated area as swelling resolves and healing progresses.

Dr. Cynthia and the Pure Radiance clinical team will provide specific instructions regarding how and when the compression garment should be worn.

Your Contour Evolves

Definition develops as healing progresses.

  2. 02Initial Swelling
  3. 03Swelling Gradually Decreases
  4. 04Jawline & Neck Contour Become More Visible
  5. 05Result Continues to Refine
Longevity

The fat cells removed through liposuction do not simply regenerate in the same way. Chin Liposuction should not, however, be presented as protection against future weight gain or natural aging.

Remaining fat cells can change in size with weight fluctuations, and skin and tissues continue to age naturally. Maintaining a relatively stable weight may help preserve the contour achieved through treatment.

Choosing an Approach

Fat? Skin? Or both?

  • Chin Liposuction

When localized submental fat is the primary concern. May be recommended when direct fat removal and contouring are appropriate.

  • EndoLift

When skin laxity, tissue quality, smaller areas of fat or loss of definition are important components. EndoLift may also support collagen stimulation and tissue remodeling.

  • Kybella

For appropriately selected patients with localized submental fat who may prefer an injectable approach. Multiple treatment sessions may be required. Kybella does not directly address every form of skin laxity or jawline concern.

  • Chin Liposuction + EndoLift

When unwanted fat and skin laxity both contribute. Chin Liposuction allows Dr. Cynthia to directly remove and contour unwanted fat, while EndoLift may be used to address tissue and support collagen remodeling. Combination treatment may be considered when removing fat alone would not fully address what is creating the patient’s concern.

The Pure Radiance Approach

Contour should be personal.

A patient may arrive asking specifically for Chin Liposuction and discover during evaluation that EndoLift, Kybella, a combination approach or another recommendation may better address what is actually contributing to their concern.

The procedure is not the starting point.
The evaluation is.
